Texas Rangers: The Pride of Arlington

Texas Rangers, a member of the Major League Baseball Western Division, is based in Arlington, Texas. The team was established in 1962 as the Washington Senators after the franchise was bought in 1961. But when the team moved to Arlington, they changed their name to the Rangers in 1972.

Ballpark: The Rangers' first ballpark was the Griffith Stadium in 1961. They then moved to RFK Stadium in 1962 and stayed there until 1971. The team had also made the Arlington Stadium their ballpark from 1972 to 1993. Then, they moved to The Ballpark in Arlington in 1994 and stayed there for a decade. Ameriquest Field in Arlington was their ballpark for two years - 2004 to 2006. Their present ballpark, where they have moved to since 2006, is Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Titles: The Texas Rangers won two AL Pennant titles, which were held in 2010 and 2011. The Rangers also won five West Division titles, which were held during the 1996, 1998, 1999, 2010 and 2011 seasons. They had also won the Wild Card berths in 2012.

Awards: Aside from the championships that the Rangers took home, the franchise also received various awards. Some of the awards they have received are Baseball America Organization of the Year in 1989 and William Harridge Trophy in 2010 and 2011.

Records: The team's players made staggering records such as The Highest Batting Average received by Josh Hamilton, Most Hits awarded to Michael Young, Most Homeruns received by Alex Rodriguez and Most Wins to Ferguson Jenkins.

First Success: The Rangers has tasted their first success when they won the 1996 A.L. West Division Championship. The team's manager and players had also garnered awards during the 1996 season. The team's coach, Johnny Oates was named as A.L. Manager of the Year while Juan Gonzales was awarded the A.L. Most Valuable Player award.

Hall of Famers: The Texas Rangers has well-known players that made the team even more popular and interesting. Because of the good lineup of the Rangers and the ability of its players, the Rangers managed to make their players reach the Hall of Fame. Some of the Hall of Famers that came from the Rangers are Nolan Ryan, Ted Williams, Ferguson Jenkins, Gaylord Perry, Chuck Hinton, Frank Howard, Bert Blyleven, Goose Gossage, John Miller and Whitey Herzog. The Texas Rangers Hall of Fame was also created to honor their popular players, where 15 Rangers members are already members.
