Woods is a well known professional golfer not only in the United States but he was also recognized as the number one golf player in the whole world and has achieved many awards and recognitions throughout his career.
Professional Golf: Woods became a professional golfer in 1996 and won his very first title just a year after that. His performance in the tournament was also deemed to be record-breaking, which set him apart from other professional golfers.
Personal and Professional Profile: Tiger Woods grew up in the Orange County where he learned to play golf by the age of two. Due to his amazing talent in golf, he was called a child prodigy. And by the age of five he already appeared in the magazine called Golf Digest. When he reached the age of eleven, he can already beat his father every time they played golf. He achieved his professional golfer status in August 1996 and in the same year he was named as the sportsman of the year. He also became an endorser for a big American multinational corporation, Nike Inc.
Tournaments: Since the start of his professional career, Woods has won 78 PGA Tour events, 39 European Tour events, 1 PGA Tour of Australian event, 2 Japan Golf Tour events, and one Asian Tour event. He also had 21 amateur wins and 15 other professional wins.
Awards: Woods has achieved numerous awards. He's been awarded as PGA Player of the Year ten times. He was also awarded with the Jack Nicklaus Trophy ten times, PGA Tour Money Leader nine times, Vardon Trophy winner eight times, and he received the Byron Nelson Award ten times.
Accomplishments: Woods and his father established a foundation in 1996, which they called the Tiger Woods Foundation. Its purpose is to endorse golf to children in the inner-city. The funds that are used by the foundation are provided by the yearly AT&T National and the Chevron World Challenge. Woods hosts the two tournaments. Woods wrote a golf instruction book titled 'How I Played Golf' in year 2001 and it became the best-selling golf instruction book by selling 1.5 million books. Its print run is also the largest for all golf books for its first edition. Tiger Woods Design was announced in November 2006. The company aims to design golf courses around the world.
