The history of Fred Haas

Fred Hass was born on January 3rd, 1916 in Portland, Arkansas. He had started his career with an amateur tour of the PFA tournament which was held in Memphis. This initial game was a spectacular performance and Fred Hass defeated Byron Nelsons record having 11 consecutive back to back victories. He became a pro ion the game somewhere in the year 1945 and went on to play in the Team for the Ryder Cup in 1953.

His amateur victories include The Western Junior amateur Championship in 1934 and 1935 respectively. This was followed by the 1936 Canadian Amateur Championship and the 1937 Southern Amateur Championship. Fred Hass has 5 PGA victories to his name which includes the 1945 Memphis Invitational, 1948 Portland Open Invitational, 1949 Miami Open, 1950 Long Beach Open and finally the Thunderbird Invitational. His game performance did not lower even when he grew old and has won the PGA Senior Championship in the year 1966.

Fred Hass best performance was seen in the Open Championship, US Open and the Open Championship.

Fred Hass died on January 26th, 2004 when he was 88 years of age. He had gained enormous amount of respect from the other players in the golfing circuit and went on to be remembered asa prominent figure among other golfers.
