Unnoticed Star: Paul Azinger. Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts in 1960 Paul Azinger is one of the few American pro
golfers who have been in the golfing scene for a very long time.
Little do many people know that the 6'2 golfer picked up his first golf club at the mere age of five. After
completing his studies from the
Florida State University, Paul Azinger turned professional in the year 1981.
Between 1988 and 1994 Paul Azinger spent 300 weeks in the top- 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings.
At the 1987 Open Championship Paul Azinger finished one shot behind
Nick Faldo. In between the years 1987 to 1993 he
won eleven tournaments in seven seasons on the PGA Tour.
In 1993 Paul Azinger won his first ever major title in the 1993 PGA Championship.
In the 1993 Azinger was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. However he fought his cancer and after an Eight month
battle he returned to playing golf.
In the year 2000 Paul Azinger won the
Sony Open, Hawaii after seven long seasons.
