Las Vegas 51s
The Las Vegas 51s is a professional baseball team from Las Vegas, Nevada currently playing in the Minor League Baseball. The 51s were known as the Las Vegas Stars previously and at the moment; they are affiliated to the Toronto Blue Jays in the Triple-A category. The team plays in the Southern Division of the Pacific Conference in the Pacific Coast League and has been playing there since 1983.
The Las Vegas 51s derives their name from the infamous Area 51 of the US Secret Service and moreover, the insignia on the cap, showing the image of a grey alien is also derived from the belief that the base at Area 51 houses aliens.
The home stadium of the team is the Cashman Field, which has been home to the 51s since they moved to Las Vegas as the Stars in 1983. The Las Vegas 51s has had affiliations with three top teams of the Major League including the San Diego Padres, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Blue Jays. The Las Vegas 51s has won the Pacific Coast League on two occasions and it has won the division on 8 occasions in its history after making the move to Las Vegas.
