Larry Nelson – A Successful Champions Tour Golfer
Larry Nelson is professional golfer from the United States of America of some note, having won numerous titles on Tour including three Major Championships. Although Nelson was born in Alabama, he grew up in Georgia and attended the Kennesaw Junior College.
Larry Nelson was not much interested in playing golf as a child and he grew up learning and playing baseball as well as basketball. Golf came to him after he came back from the Vietnam War as a 21 year old and there has been no looking back for him ever since.
He turned professional in 1971 but was not qualified enough to join the PGA Tour until he turned 27 in 1974. Since then, Nelson has won 10 titles on the PGA Tour and his three Major Championships include the US Open which he won in 1983, the PGA Championship which he twice in 1381 and again in 1987.
When Larry Nelson qualified to play on the Champions Tour, it was thought that he would get a few more titles but little did anyone think that he would end up winning 19 titles which is tied at tenth in the all time list. It can be said that as a golfer, Larry Nelson made much more of headway in the Champions Tour than in the PGA Tour.
